Acupuncture and its Benefits
Traditional Acupuncture
All of our acupuncturists are highly educated, well-trained, highly qualified, and registered with the CTCMPAO (College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturists of Ontario). Since our acupuncture treatment is based on traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture, the treatment plan is also based on the traditional Chinese medicine way of disease analysis (TCM syndrome differentiation).
According to this syndrome differentiation, acupuncture points are selected locally, distally, ipsilaterally, contralaterally, or functionally, depending on your disease condition and progress.
In many cases, our acupuncture treatment is effective as early as during the initial treatment session. It is because our acupuncturists know exactly what to do and how to perform the treatment accordingly.

Painless Acupuncture for Pain-free Life
Afraid of being needled?
Since acupuncture is a medical technique that uses small and smooth needles to penetrate the skin, many people have a fear of needles. Acupuncture needles are made of stainless steel, very fine, smooth, and much smaller than medical injection needles. Furthermore, as mentioned above, all of our acupuncturists are well-trained and highly experienced. You may even feel nothing when a needle is being inserted into the skin.
Acupuncture is a regulated healthcare service in Ontario (by CTCMPAO) and acupuncture needles are to be sterile, nontoxic, and for single-use only.
“Is the needle already in? I didn’t feel anything!”
This is one of the most common questions that we hear from our patients during the first needling session. In most cases, you don’t even feel the needle being inserted. There can be a pinching or pricking sensation that feels like a mosquito bite as the needle is inserted, but this is just a momentary sensation; not a pain.
You may feel some sensations during an acupuncture session, such as warm, tingling, numb, ant crawling, dull, heavy, or electric transmission sensations. These sensations are regarded normal sensations.
Not only treat, but also prevent.
The goal of an acupuncture treatment is not limited to the treatment itself. Since acupuncture treatment is designed to treat the cause of disease, it also prevents the recurrence of disease and, at least, worsening of the condition.
We Work Hard To Provide You The Best Quality of Treatment
More than acupuncture
Even though our acupuncture treatment is based on traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture, the range of treatment is not limited to it. We practice various acupuncture styles such as medical acupuncture, Five Element acupuncture (Sa-am acupuncture), motion acupuncture, Dr. Tan’s acupuncture, Master Tong’s acupuncture, Balancing acupuncture, electro-needling, auricular acupuncture, and neuro-muscular acupuncture, etc. in order to get most effective treatment results.
Besides, our acupuncture session is often combined with various other techniques such as KSNS natural therapy, massage therapy, cupping, moxibustion or Guasha, depending on your disease condition.
In order to serve you with the best quality of treatment, our acupuncturists constantly study, research, practice, and learn new techniques.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
It is believed in traditional Chinese medicine that the human body has 360 regular acupuncture points, which are called ‘main meridian points’. There are 12 main meridians and 8 extraordinary meridians in the human body. Besides, there are about 40 commonly used points outside of these 20 meridians. These points are called ‘Ashi point’ (‘Ah there!’ or ‘painful’ point).
Appropriate combination of acupuncture points and stimulation may lead to the stimulation of energy and blood flow, improvement of the functions of the internal organs, relieve pain, benefit the skin and tissues, and expel pathogenic factors from the inside and/or outside of the body.
The meridians (or channels) create an energy flow (called ‘Qi’) throughout the body that is responsible for overall health. And commonly used meridian points are particularly effective in doing this work.
From medical point of view, acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cords, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
